Here is a little message from Linda:
Happy New Year!
My name is Linda Snead and the Weigh Station has invited me to be the facilitator of the Sharing the Journey meetings. I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am a licensed counselor with over 20 years experience in private practice. Currently I work in the Roanoke Valley and serve a wide variety of clients with a special interest in women, couples, and adolescent issues.
In addition, I am a wife and mother of two adult children. I also enjoy spending time with my adorable 2 year old granddaughter. I personally have had a lifelong challenge with weight issues. I have tried many diets over the years… anybody ever heard of the cabbage soup diet? I know the frustration of yo-yo dieting all too well. As long as I am living, I will always be aware of my history and the never ending debate… “Should I eat this?”
I became acquainted and impressed with the Weigh Station program last year when a close friend shared how she had been successful with losing weight. However, she expressed concern about keeping the weight off this time, as she had previously lost and regained the same weight several times. National statistics about this issue are very discouraging. It is reported that 80-95% of people regain some, all, or even more of their weight back.
However, with the help of the Sharing the Journey meetings and counseling to explore issues that affect our eating patterns (genetics, food addiction, medical issues, emotional eating, etc.) we can strive to beat the odds and keep the weight off for good.
Now you know a little about me, I look forward to getting to know many of you in the Sharing the Journey groups in Roanoke and Christiansburg. We all know that what we eat is important! But, knowing what’s eating you is critical in keeping that weight off for good. Congratulations on your success to date!
I look forward to sharing!
Linda Snead
